Bristol Junior League 1997-98

The Bristol Junior League had an exciting end to the season with KLB A narrowly beating holders Marlwood after an appeal on a critical adjudication. The position was apparently so complicated that it defeated the best brains in the League until the winning line was pointed out by the father of the KLB player.

Many thanks to the eight clubs who supported the League, and also to Downend who hosted the League for the first year. The new accommodation has proved excellent and has led to a resurgence of activity this year. We are very grateful to the headteacher, Mrs Penge, for making the premises available.

Any schools which have a chess club and are in the Bristol/Bath region are welcome to join in our activities next year. We meet from 7.15 to 9.15 on Friday evenings during the Autumn and Spring terms, and teachers are not required to be present as there are always a number of adult helpers. If you would like further information on the Junior League please contact Jerry Humphreys on 0117 965 0097.
