Simon Buckley won the Grendel Rapidplay with a perfect score of 6/6, beating im Sherwin in the last round. Sherwin tied on five points with Suan Quek, but took second place with a five-minute blitz tiebreak.
The tournament was run in one section of 42 players with prizes for the open, under-150, and under-115. Simon's brother, Sam, won the under-115 with the excellent score of four points.
The new venue of Lebeq's Tavern in Stapleton Road turned out to be a good one and may well be used again in the future.
