Please see email below from Phil Dodwell, captain of the Gloucestershire Open Team who is looking for new players.

" Are there any Bristol League players graded above 140 who are interested in playing for Gloucestershire?

Our programme is:- Sunday 16th September Inter County Jamboree at Taunton

Saturday 20th October v Cornwall at Exminster

Saturday 1st December v Hampshire at Urchfont near Devizes

Saturday 19th January 2013 v Somerset in Cheltenham

Saturday 9th March v Devon at West Buckland near Wellington

usually 3rd Saturday in May, quarter final match in Minor Counties-

dependent on winning subsequent Minor Counties matches in June and July

Qualification needs ONE of the following

1) Birth in the old county of Gloucestershire which includes Bristol north of the Avon

2) 5 years residence in that area at any time

3) 2 months immediate previous and present membership of a club either in or affiliated to the county.

4) 1 month immediately previous and present residence in the county

5) present attendance as a teacher or student at a school, college or university in that county

No player may play for more than one county in any one season

I may be contacted at

I look forward to greeting some new players to the county team.

Phil Dodwell Gloucestershire Match Captain"

Firstly, just to echo the above it would be great to see more Bristol League players playing for Gloucs.

Secondly, for the Jamboree at Taunton there is a grade- limited section (1600 maximum total grade over 12 boards, so an average of no more then 130 per board.) I know the email above says that Phil is looking for players graded 140 or higher, but I imagine if theres enough interest from people graded below that in playing at the Jamboree then I'm sure he would at the very least consider entering a Gloucs. team in the graded section.

It should also be added that you only need to have BRONZE membership to play in County matches, so any league player getting membership can play at no extra cost for grading
