Bristol Winter Congress 2015

Nov 27-29th

6th Form Common Room,  Bristol Grammar School  BS8 1SR

Crosstables    -    Open       Major      Minor

The Bristol Winter Congress took place at the Bristol Grammar School in the heart of Bristol Nov 27th-29th. There were 82 players in 3 sections. The weather was not cooperative but the local Wetherspoons provided some consolation.  As usual, catering was from Rosie from Hereford.

Keith was held to a draw in the last round against Javier

Open Section

1st Keith Arkell   4.5/5

The Open attracted 32 players, with 6 players graded 2150+.

Not surprisingly, the Open was once again won by GM Keith Arkell.  With 200-300 point gap over his opponents, it was expected that he would win comfortably.   But the real battle was for second place with no fewer than 7 players tying on 3.5. This included Dan Malkiel, a new player to Bristol fresh from America, David Graham who travelled up from Worthing with his 2 children also in the Open and Javier Ruano Marco who drew with GM Arkell in the last round.
