Match
Report
Bath strengthened by the inclusion of Chris
Dorrington & James Jackson won a closely fought final at Clifton's
Polish Club last night. Boards 5 & 6 were first to finish in
draws closely followed by board 4
James Sherwin struck the first blow on Board 2 for
Bath which was cancelled out on Board 3 with a win for Gareth
Morris.
Boards 1 & 7 finished in Draws leaving the match
to be decided by what was happening on bottom board. Clifton needed
a win as a draw would have left Bath in front on board count.
John Waterfield had to give up his Queen for Rook &
Knight and was losing weak pawns with both players dangerously low
on time. The final blow came when John blundered his knight
and shortly after the game was lost.
